The Hong Kong Institute of Chartered Secretaries (HKICS) is the leading professional body dedicated to promoting good corporate governance and corporate secretaryship in Hong Kong and China.
The HKICS began life in 1949 as an association of the Hong Kong members of The Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators (ICSA). It became an official branch of the ICSA in 1986 and gained local status as an autonomous professional body in 1994.
As the qualifying and professional body for Chartered Secretaries in Hong Kong and Mainland China we uphold the quality and standard of the Chartered Secretarial qualification and provide training and career support to all our members. Additionally, we apply a code of ethics and conduct for our members and our organisation plays an integral role in the development of regulatory policy and thought leadership, particularly on issues related to corporate governance and corporate secretarial practice both locally and internationally.
The majority of the membership and student base of HKICS is located in Hong Kong; however, as the representative of the China Division of the ICSA, we have a growing presence in Mainland China.
The International Qualifying Scheme examinations of ICSA are conducted in Hong Kong, Beijing and Shanghai biannually, and provide continuing professional development training in Hong Kong and cities throughout Mainland China.
The HKICS also plays an active role in the global profession, principally through its membership in the ICSA and Corporate Secretaries International Association Limited (CSIA).
The Division now has over 5,800 members.
